Clarion Coughlan, Jayne Paterson O’Connell, Justin Blass, Kelsey White & Simon Watson
Kelsey has spent most of the last two weeks working on and thinking about roadmaps. That includes navigating multiple internal systems of work and discovery tracking, choosing a format that is both outcome-based and follows a quarterly structure (important for her company), and ultimately managing priorities and tight deadlines through the end of 2023. Linear's way of working has been a great inspiration.
Over the last couple of weeks, Justin has continued a review of the Development Lead role within their teams. He's surveyed the Dev Leads and stakeholders within the organisations to uncover the role's unique value add, challenges, and tension points. He'll work with the Dev Leads to review the feedback and hone the role expectations. He's been contemplating this article from The Pragmatic Engineer, "How Big Tech Runs Tech Projects and the Curious Absence of Scrum," as they shape the role.
Jayne has officially moved up to Dublin and started in her new role! It is a steep learning curve and a humbling experience to begin anew. While it's challenging to be at a new company, in a new country, working in an entirely new industry, she's also finding it refreshing. It feels like her brain is waking up again after a long time of being dormant! And while it's all new, there are some very familiar delivery challenges emerging... more on that in the next Studio Notes!
Clarion recently attended Product Aotearoa, NZ's first product conference. The event offered a unique opportunity to reflect on the evolving product development landscape in New Zealand. Highlights included Richard Mironov's insightful and enjoyable talk and workshop. The growth and learning under the guidance of a true expert is truly remarkable! Check out Richard's article on “The Chocolate Cake Problem”. Reconnecting with fellow product enthusiasts and professionals at the conference added warmth to the event, reinforcing the community driving innovation in this corner of the world.
Simon has immersed himself in the world of cricket, dedicating his time and energy to the sport like never before. His primary focus has been rigorously testing an innovative cricket app they've been diligently developing.
